Sup. I've stopped bothering making nice intros for these after how disappointed I was with that Nintendo Direct this month. Wow that uh, that really sucked. It's the WiiLink News I guess.

    Collected memories

Back in the day, Wii Room used to have a feature called Picture of the Day. Every day when you open Wii Room, you would get a new picture, presumably taken by the Wii no Ma company. While these aren't the most important thing that Wii Room ever had, it was a great tone setter, serving as a nice introduction that would refresh itself each day.

So we've brought it back! Picture of the Day is now live on Wii Room. Every day at midnight UTC, a new photo is randomly selected and displayed for the entirety of that day when you launch the channel. These pictures aren't a promotion for anything, just photos submitted by our community that they took in real life. We've received some really incredible pictures! We looked through all of them and found over 500 pictures that we could use! Additionally, we've opened the second round of photo submissions on Discord and WiiLink Forums! We'll be looking through every submission, so just try and shoot your shot.

    The spotlight grows

Back in February, we introduced the Creator Spotlight room, which highlights our creators from YouTube. Previously, this category was just that, a collection of our pre-existing content. But that wasn't the reason why we made that category! We originally wanted to introduce the category as a way to have smaller collaborations with more variety. We can now say we're fulfilling our goal. Introducing the Creator Spotlight category, separate from the room. We've released two videos this month in this category to welcome it to Wii Room, but what are they? Let's take a look!

    A defective detective

One of our first WiiLink Originals, Sound Chamber, ended on March 2025. Since then, its creator Flatbeek has been quite busy with other projects. One of those projects has been a senior film project for their film degree, a short film titled Ace Detective: Ace Detective. The film follows an ace asexual detective, Ace Detective to solve a really, really stupid mystery. They wrapped production and released the short film for the public on June 24, and we decided to release it on Wii Room as well. Give it a quick watch for a fun time! It's only 10 minutes.

    Blast off

One thing that we've always wanted to have on Wii Room is animated content. We've always liked the idea of doing it, but it's hard to find people who are willing to dedicate the time to do it for, to be frank, absolutely no financial benefit. However, we've managed to strike a deal! We've agreed with SmartPixel Studios to distribute animated series onto Wii Room as part of the Creator Spotlight program! As of now, you can watch the pilot for Old Space, a new series developed by EwToons. Check it out in Creator Spotlight! Later in the year, we'll also be distributing Vinsverse, another series from the channel. Stay tuned!

    Venture into the worlds

As of writing, the 2026 PJKT Fest is underway! The festival is a virtual event held in VRChat, celebrating the culture of VR communities and creators! While we ourselves aren't VR creators, one of our developers, PablosCorner, is! He has a booth in the event which we encourage you to check out (you don't need a VR headset, just a computer to run the game)! And because he offered, we have a kiosk at his booth too! The kiosk isn't anything crazy, but it does feature a new trailer showcasing various WiiLink services! The event runs until July 5, so go check it out soon!

    A global solution

If you didn't know, Wii Room uses a backend called the Underground. This lets us edit all the content found in the channel, such as images, videos and Miis. It's great. One thing that's really inconvenient about it though, is that it only works for one frontend. This means if we wanted to have a different server, we need to make a separate Underground. For example, Japan currently has a different server, and we have to have a different Underground for it. This isn't just inconvenient to use, it also just means it can have many issues if we simply just forget to do something. Every Underground has different upload limits, time out limits, bugs and more. It means if something is only broken on a different web panel, people have to separately fix it for that web panel. So, we're changing how this works.

We're currently working on a new web panel system, which will coordinate all the Wii Room servers into one system, meaning that we won't have to configure everything across multiple backends, it'll all run through one system. This would also come with the deprecation of the international server, in favor of expanding the Tulip server. We're not currently sure how long this would take, but please stay tuned for more updates!

    Approval from the man himself

One of our development team, Ninuno, happened to go to the Too Many Games convention this year. Of course, this would usually not warrant a mention, but he did happen to put a gun to Scott Wozniak's head to make him advertise for us.

    Thanks Scott.

And that's it from us this month. This month was very much focused on expanding Wii Room with new features and videos. We're really excited to see where we can take it even in the future, because we have a lot of ideas that we'd like to realise. Until then though, let's just enjoy what we have now. Thanks for reading!
